
Board Vacancies
NOTICE
The Huron County Board of Commissioners will elect or appoint members to the following Boards:
MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES BOARD – 4 members, 3-year term. Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older and shall have his/her primary residence in the county. The board seeks representation from providers of mental health services, recipients or primary consumers of mental health services, agencies having a working involvement with mental health services, and the general public. Applicants should identify what constituency they wish to represent. Preference may be given to primary consumers and family members to fulfill a statutory one-third membership requirement. Persons statutorily excluded from appointment are employees of the Board, a person under contract or party to, or administering or benefiting financially from a contract with the Board, and a person in a policy-making position with an agency with which the Board is contracting or considering entering into a contract.
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS – 1 vacancy, 2.5-year term.
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS – 1 vacancy, 1-year term.
NATURE CENTER – 1 vacancy, 6-month term.
PLANNING COMMISION – 3 members, 3 year-term. The membership of the Huron County planning commission shall be representative of important segments of the community, such as economic, governmental, educational, and social development of the county, with the major interests as they exist in the county, such as agriculture, natural resources, recreation, education, public health, government, transportation, industry, and commerce. Membership shall be representative of the entire territory of the county. Applicants should identify what segments of the community they wish to represent. The Board will make every reasonable effort to ensure that the membership of the county planning commission includes a member of a public school board or an administrative employee of a school district, in whole or in part, within the county’s boundaries.
Interested persons must submit a letter of intent to the Chairman of the Huron County Board of Commissioners, Room 305, Huron County Building, Bad Axe, Michigan 48413, no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
