ADMIT RESPONSIBILITY WITH EXPLANATION

Responding to a traffic ticket (civil infractions):

All civil infraction citations are due within 14 days of the date on the citation. If you fail to pay or fail to request a court appearance within 14 days, you will be subject to late fees and possible suspension of your license.

Before you come to Court to pay the ticket:

It normally takes 24-48 hours from the time you received the ticket before the court has received a record of the ticket from the police department. Please wait at least 24 hours before coming to court to pay. If you are coming in person to pay during regular business hours, please bring your copy of the ticket with you.

If you would like to admit responsibility with explanation:

You may admit responsibility with explanation of the circumstances by turning your ticket over and checking “Admit Responsibility with Explanation” and signing your name. On a separate piece of paper please write an explanation and include your phone number and address as well as payment for the ticket (Prices may be viewed on our website at Civil Infraction/Traffic Fees). When the Court receives your ticket and explanation, the Attorney Magistrate will read the explanation, call the police officer who wrote the ticket and read the Officer your explanation. A disposition will be sent to you within 3 weeks indicating if the officer has accepted your explanation and if the charge has been reduced or dismissed.
